The Night that changed our lives the days of the fires
It was just a night of fun for young people like my college son to go and enjoy a night at the Borderline Place. Yet what these people experienced was horror. So many lost their young lives and so many will be forever remembering that night. The night that changed our beautiful Thousand Oaks City. I have no words for this but I want to express to the families that your loved ones will never be forgotten. The Police Officer that gave his life for so many will not be forgotten. Let us remember these names of these people and their families forever. Then the fires came Hill Canyon Fire came so close to my neighborhood, some of us sat on the sidewalks thinking should we start leaving? What do we pack? I would come out and look at the red hills and smoke and thinking about the Borderline Shooting and ask myself why. Our County is a beautiful place to live and to think that this shooting happened and then the fires. I have no words to express myself. Except I know that life is short we must love our family and friends every second. We cannot take for granted anything in our lives. Because life is so short. Every time I go by the Borderline I see the broken windows I hear the screams and only hope for some type of memorial for the families. So they can find rest and peace. Some were so young and came from my son's University that night, only wanting to have a good time. I wonder if we can have enjoyment anymore in these times? I question everything that is and has happened the recent fires two days ago. The new fire that I can see flames from my kitchen window has we live on a hill. Maybe we cannot question it? We only have to except it? Try to continue on with our lives and our families. I don't feel safe in Ventura County anymore I have lived here a long time. I am concerned about our family, and what could happen. But we must all have faith in whatever God we believe in and honor the people that have lost their lives in this horrible event. May the remaining months ahead show positive growth and a new road for all our journey that we so want to do.
