Hill Fire

From a few puffs of smoke to a raging fire, it took only a few minutes for me to realize that the Hill fire was heading our way. It was already burning behind the newly built senior center above the freeway when I started to hear helicopters and small aircraft coming to their aid. Smoke started filling our street and obscuring our vision. As my neighbor and I were handing water and a mask to our mailman, we could not believe what we saw next. A 737 airplane flew so close to us that it rattled our insides and it felt like we could reach up and touch it! The 3 of us watched it with our jaws dropped. The calvary had come! It then dumped a load of foschek that helped save the buildings near the freeway. I will never forget that moment and it reinforces my belief that we had the finest first reponders anywhere! Grateful to be living in Ventura county! :-)
